Atlas Knife and Tool started making actual HIGH carbon railroad spikes. 1080 steel; much better edge retention than a standard railroad spikes. This was my first project trying one out. I figured I had to do an integral chefs knife. This was a TON of hammerwork, getting the blade this thin, but it was totally worth it. I hammered it very close to shape, bevels and all, to use as much of the material as possible. This would make a great chefs knife for your home or for a rustic cabin situation. Blade length is around 7.5” long.
